The Buffalo Rose – Hidden Gems

If you’re looking for some good music and a fun evening in the Golden area, you may want to check out the Buffalo Rose.  The food is pretty decent, and the entertainment is the best in town.  The venue is a large open concert hall, perfect for seeing that semi-local rock and/or blues band you’ve been hoping to check out.

The coolest surprise?  The venue is built on top of the old City of Golden Municipal Pool.  Not even joking there.  Check it out for yourself.

The Best Flight Search.

Ever wonder what the best flight search is?  Try Bing Travel.  You may be wondering why this mammoth of a site is the best for flight searches.  The simple reason is that they have the Price Predictor.  The Price Predictor is a nifty feature that tells you whether or not you should buy your flight now, or wait a bit.

Now, they are exclusive to airlines that are typically found on Orbitz, Travelocity, and the like.  Why does this matter?  It matters because carriers like Southwest are not on there, but since most all airlines are in cahoots, what’s stopping you from searching here before going to our favorite airline, Southwest?

Event travel destinations

Now this is a treat…ever have travel block?  You know, where you have the time and desire, but can’t quite pinpoint where you want to go or what you want to do?  Check out MSN’s list of great events for travelers!

Some are out there, but I definitely have Oktoberfest on my list (especially since we can get a direct flight from Denver to Munich!).

Best website for travel?

You may or may not have read one of my recent posts about the amazing honeymoon that Lauren and I will embark on this coming August.  What I forgot to mention was how much Travelzoo was an integral part of our honeymoon search.

Travelzoo’s Top 20 is one of the few mailing lists that I sign up for.  Every Wednesday, I receive the “top 20 deals on the net”.  This is a list of the website’s top 20 deals with all of the vendors they work with.  They do not spam.  They do not sell your email address.  I’ve since unsubscribed to everything from Groupon to Living Social, but Travelzoo remains faithfully in my inbox, once per week.  I have nothing against those other sites, they are just rarely something that I go for.  Travelzoo has been consistent in the type of adventure I’ve always looked for.

If you’re looking for adventure, I highly suggest starting with them. (Note: I do not have any affiliation with Travelzoo.)

IMAG0408Someone recently told me that if you are an expert at something, you have nothing more to learn.  I happen to agree with this statement.  No matter how good you think you are at something, there is always more to learn.  When we stop learning, we stop dying…or something like that.
